Following our recent blog 5 GREAT REASONS TO MOVE TO WEST CUMBRIA, we’re keen to share with potential new home owners at WELLBANK PARK what you can expect to experience in the immediate vicinity around the development.

For anyone looking to design a new home and join the WELLBANK community  there is plenty to see and do right on your doorstep – here’s just a few of them.

1. ENJOY A STROLL THROUGH THE WELLBANK ORCHARD

WELLBANK PARK sits within an landscaped setting. The fruit orchard planted last Spring is developing well and the paths will allow you to stroll through, pick fruit from the trees, see the local wildlife and immerse yourself in nature. The paths lead you to our two large ponds and onto the site’s Community Hub.

2. WALK THE STUNNING COASTLINE

The spectacular coastline just a short walk on a path from WELLBANK PARK has been recognised as one one of the most scenic coastlines in the country.  This beautiful unspoint beach is sandy and vast, perfect for dipping your toes in, walking the dog or simply strolling along to blow the cobwebs away.

3. CLIMB BLACK COMBE FELL

Black Combe fell broods over WELLBANK on its south east side.

The view from Black Combe is unique, a result of its isolated position to the south and west of the main Lake District fells. William Wordsworth claimed that “the amplest range of unobstructed prospect may be seen that British ground commands.” Half the view is the glittering sea, with the Isle of Man seen clearly to the west, and the hills of Wales and Scotland seen as shadowy silhouettes.[1]

For the more energetic, the 8 mile (13km) circular route is generally considered a challenging  and takes around 41/2 hours to walk.  The impressive views from the rocky summit on a clear day go far into the distance and you might even encounter a few local residents!

4. BRUNCH AT SILECROFT BEACH CAFE

This inviting new cafe recently opened earlier this year on the beach at Silecroft. A short drive or a good morning walk from WELLBANK PARK, this lovely little gem is the perfect place for a coffee, brunch or a lazy lunch.

5. MOOCH AROUND BOOTLE VILLAGE

Bootle village is situated adjacent to WELLBANK where you will find a thriving and welcoming Cumbrian community.

The architecture of the village speaks of history, with traditional stone cottages and buildings that reflect the heritage of the region. Bootle’s roots date back to medieval times, and like many Cumbrian villages, it has a rich history. The Church of St Michael and All Angels, dating back to the 12th century, stands as a reminder of the village’s medieval past. A visit to this beautiful church offers not only a glimpse into the village’s history but also stunning views across the surrounding countryside.
